Wine Tasting Midweeks
1st - 6th March
Domaine Mikulski
Domaine François Mikulski, a highly respected producer based in the heart of Meursault in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. The domaine spans eight hectares, with prized holdings across six Meursault Premier Cru vineyards and an additional Premier Cru site in Volnay, producing both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Led by François and Marie-Pierre Mikulski, the estate is defined by a philosophy of authenticity, purity and elegance. François, originally from Brussels, inherited his first Meursault vineyards in 1992 from his uncle Pierre Boillot and has since devoted himself to expressing terroir through careful biological balance in the vineyard and a restrained, terroir-focused approach in the cellar. Grapes are meticulously sorted, destemmed and gently pressed, fermented with natural yeasts, and aged for 10–12 months with minimal new oak to allow the character of each site to shine through—resulting in wines of remarkable finesse and clarity.
Monday & Tuesday | 6.00 – 7.30 pm
Domaine Louis Boillot
Louis shares his cellar with his other half, Ghislaine Barthod , under their home in Chambolle, overlooking Les Feusselottes. He is part of the Boillot family from Volnay, which explains the quantity of his vineyard holdings in the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Louis Boillot is overseen by Clément, the son of Louis Boillot and Ghislaine Barthod (of Domaine Ghislaine Barthod). In recent years, this rising star has been the driving force behind both domaines as his parents start to take a step back, giving him space to exercise his considerable talent across their magical array of vineyards. Louis inherited his Volnay vineyards, plus a few in the Côte de Nuits, from his father and now has around seven hectares of organically-farmed vines in the Côtes de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, with impressive village and premier cru holdings in both. Louis and Clément also have a remarkable concern further south in Moulin-à-Vent, making Pinot Noir-like Beaujolais, from the region’s Gamay grape. They like to pick early to preserve freshness, and their Burgundy has a wonderful juicy drinkability. He expanded into Moulin-à-Vent in ’13 and subsequently into Fleurie, fulfilling a long-held ambition. His and Ghislaine’s son Clément is now officially in charge, while Louis focusses on his viticulture. As yet, there are no discernible changes. In the winery “Non-intervention” is the word here, and Louis prefers to let his old vines speak for themselves. Everything is destalked, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
