CELEBRATING TRADITION IN 2025

For 130 years, five generations have upheld the Kelly tradition, evolving and excelling through time. This year marks a continuation of that legacy with a few changes.

Kelly’s journey began in 1895 when William J. and Mary Kelly opened a humble tearoom. Over the years, it has transformed into the renowned 4-star resort it is today. In 1950, William J., fondly known as Billy Kelly, took the reins, and alongside his wife Breda, built Kelly’s into one of the country’s leading hotels.

Sadly, Breda passed away just before Christmas 2024. “She was an extraordinary woman whose legacy continues to inspire all of us,” said Bill Kelly. “Her contributions to Kelly’s and her unwavering warmth towards our guests, family, and staff will forever be cherished. We will celebrate her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on our community and beyond, ensuring her and my father’s legacy is carried on through the generations to come.” Said Bill

Like Billy and Breda before them, Bill Kelly and his eldest daughter Laura share the same core values, continuing to reinvest in and evolve the hotel for the 21st century. This year is particularly special as Bill’s youngest daughter, Grace, returns from her studies to join her father and sister, bringing a fresh and exciting element to Kelly’s.

Having recently completed her master’s in hospitality management at the prestigious École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, with a specialisation in Food and Beverage, Grace is set to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of Kelly’s. Her expertise will be instrumental, particularly in the culinary realm, ensuring that Kelly’s remains at the forefront of innovation and excellence for years to come.
